Goals for 2009

December 31st, 2008

As it’s the last day of 2008, I think it’s the perfect time to write up some goals for the coming year.

  • Add another 100 micro niche sites to my growing network.
  • Get into shape and eat more healthy (saying this with a big roses tin to my side).
  • Create my first e-commerce site and my first site aimed 100% at the Irish market.
  • Become a certified Zend Engineer.

Not alot, but if make it through these, I’ll be quite happy!

Happy New Year all!

Outsourcing, it just plain rocks!

December 24th, 2008

It’s no secret, Outsourcing is a godsend for any business big or small and for what you pay with money, you get back in time, time to … yep, make more money. Last year I bought the 4 hour work week upon hearing all the rave reviews and oh my, was it a good purchase. I was completely blown away by the insight into the author’s skill of delegating tasks and basically not having to run his business like “normal people”. His business was virtually running itself and he was making a lot of money.

I have been successfully outsourcing small tasks for a good few months now and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Sure you do have to spend a bit of time writing up briefs and yes, there is a bit of guidance for the contractor, but in doing this, I have saved countless hours (and headaches) that are used for doing what I love doing, designing.

For 2009 I have big plans, and outsourcing is going to play a big part in my business. For a one man band, I hope that in having more time, I can get more work and also work on my side projects and niche micro sites some more. After shifting my way of thinking about how a business should be run – Thank you Tim! – I will be investing more into outourcing and thus generating even more passive income, and so rinse and repeat.

December 1st, 2008

Just finished a new micro site based around the Canavan Disease. I didn’t feel there was enough solid information about the disease online, so here it is to supply all those looking for facts about the disease.

Geansai Gorm Winner

December 1st, 2008

Congratulations are in order for the winner of Mulley’s SEO competition, Paul from Blackdog managed to finish first, it was fairly close between James from Forbairt and Paul, but Paul got in early and did a great job ranking numero uno!

I came fifth, which is not too bad, I did learn a few more things about SEO which I can’t complain about at all, ah well maybe next time :D
